Dilijan Folk Art Museum was established in 1979. folklorist and painter H. with Sharambeyan’s direct initiative and participation. The museum building is one of the oldest buildings of the city, built in the 19th century. last The house belonged to princess Mariam Tumanyan and served as a summer house. M. Tumanyan was born in 1870. M. Dolukhanyan-Tumanyan was one of the prominent public figures of the time. He in the 1890s. after the Hamidian massacres, with his own funds, he opens a carpet factory for emigrants in Dilijan, 1919-1920: an orphanage and workshops. During the Soviet rule, Samson Harutyunyan and Mariam Tumanyan donated their country house in Dilijan to Armenia.
Hovh. Tumanyan, Yeghishe Charents, Fritjof Nansen, actresses Siranuish, Azniv Hrachyan, philologist Sergey Vardanyan, famous artists, musicians. The last resident of the house was Jovh. It was Sharambeyan who turned the building into a folk art museum.
In 9 exhibition halls of the museum, works of modern Armenian folk masters and self-taught creators, ethnographic items are presented.
